A little history

A Victorian resort and market town that became home to the National Library of Wales and the oldest university college in Wales (1872). The castle was built by Edward I — and dismantled by Parliamentarians during the Civil War.

Local tip

Pier Street and Great Darkgate Street for independent food and coffee. The cliff railway up to Constitution Hill is genuinely atmospheric. The Thursday market.
